Nick Green’s music for World Production’s 2013 ITV series The Bletchley Circle received much praise and he will shortly start working on series 2. Meanwhile he is working on Trademark Films’ The Wiper Times wriiten by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman for producer David Parfitt and director Andy De Emmony. He has also recently completed the score for the feature Love Bite for Ecosse Films which will premiere later this year.
Nick was already an established recording artist and songwriter when he teamed up with record producer Tristin Norwell to create tv drama and film scores. After some 8 years they’ve now gone their separate ways. Their joint credits include six series of Wild at Heart for Company Pictures/BBC1. They scored the tv film Whistle And I’ll Come To You for the BBC and director Andy De Emmony and starring John Hurt, Lesley Sharp and Gemma Jones and earlier the Oscar Nominated short Wish 143, directed by Ian Barnes for Swing and Shift Films/Union Pictures. They also worked on Shed Productions’ Waterloo Road series and it is their music that opens and closes the show.
Other credits include the BBC’s tv film Framed, starring Trevor Eve and Robert Pugh, directed by Andy DeEmmony; Shed Productions’ Hope Springs series, produced by Spencer Campbell; God On Trial for BBC2; The Invisibles, Company Pictures’ comedy/crime 6-parter produced by Richard Burrell; Wall To Wall’s award winning Filth: The Mary Whitehouse Story, starring Julie Walters, Hugh Bonneville and Alun Armstrong, directed by Andy DeEmmony; two series of Drop Dead Gorgeous for Hat Trick Productions; and the BBC’s 55 Degrees North.
Other credits include Meera Syal’s Life Isn’t All Ha Ha Hee Hee for Hat Trick Productions; Fantabulosa for BBC4 in which Michael Sheen played Kenneth Williams; the BBC’s tv film Recovery starring David Tennant and Sarah Parish; Stan, the BBC’s Stan Laurel biopic, directed by Jon Sen and produced by Ben Evans; and two shorts Wish, written and directed by Matt Day for Quark Films and You, Me And Captain Longbridge, directed by Kenny Doughty and starring Joseph Fiennes.
Nick was born and brought up in a very musical family in Worcester. He went on to study drama at Kidderminster College where he wrote music for the student productions directed by Rufus Norris.
He recorded several of his own songs for Gordon Mills’ Juice Records before moving to London and eventually signing with Dave Stewart’s Anxious Records label, releasing a single and album and touring as support for Eddi Reader. He played on sessions for Monie Love and Gabrielle, including her mega hit “Dreams Can Come True’.
